David has 35 years of experience and an exceptional track record driving equity value creation in the software industry as an investor, entrepreneur and private and public company operating executive. As a globally oriented executive with a highly successful track record working with privately and publicly traded technology companies, David has a unique set of experiences across the full lifecycle of the software industry. He has founded, led, invested in, raised capital for, sold and acquired software companies.  He has been instrumental in acquiring more than 25 companies for over $1 billion of capital. He has been a part of the leadership team of public companies that were successfully sold for over $3 billion. He has worked with companies from start-up through fully scaled, operationally mature, platform software companies.

Before co-founding Jamestown Advisors, David was Executive Vice President, Strategy & Corporate Development, at Bottomline Technologies, a publicly traded software company which was sold to Thoma Bravo in 2022. He led strategy, corporate development and M&A for Bottomline across a diverse portfolio of businesses in domestic and international markets and acquired over 15 companies. He spearheaded the acquisition of the Israel-based Fraud & Financial Crimes business, which he also led as the senior operating executive achieving significant growth.

David spent seven years as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, at Unica, a leading marketing automation software provider, which was acquired by IBM and became the foundation of IBM’s Enterprise Marketing Management group. During this time David led strategy and corporate development and acquired several marketing technology companies.

David is an accomplished entrepreneur and founded two successful technology companies – Bowstreet, a market-defining web services and application platform, and Swingtide, an innovative web services, marketing and analytics company. Trusted and respected as an advisor to entrepreneurs and growth-oriented executives, David has served on the boards of multiple companies, including Glance Networks, Opinion Lab, RewardsNow, SMTN and Freedom Drug.

He began his career at TA Associates, a leading private equity firm, and gained global experience while working for ChinaVest, a venture capital fund investing in entrepreneurs in Hong Kong, Taiwan and China.
